Helping Families Navigate Healthy Eating After Life Changes Everything
Lisa Davies is a certified nutritionist, caregiver, and founder of Recipe Shop, helping families navigate healthy eating after major life changes through practical low-sodium and blood sugar-friendly meal planning.
Her journey began after her mother suffered a sudden cardiac arrest caused by a virus that overwhelmed her heart. Following a lengthy recovery, a weakened heart, and a new diabetes diagnosis, Lisa and her sister struggled to find practical guidance on what to eat.
The nutritional targets they received sounded simple: approximately 45 grams of carbohydrates and 500 milligrams of sodium per meal.
Living that way was not.
What followed was years of recipe modification, ingredient research, meal planning, and nutritional education. Along the journey, Lisa became a certified nutritionist and created Recipe Shop as the system she still uses today to help care for her mother.
Eight months after leaving the hospital, Lisa’s mother returned for follow-up testing. Her heart scans were normal for her age and she was removed from all heart medications. While Lisa would never claim diet alone caused that outcome, the experience reinforced her belief that food matters.
Today, Recipe Shop contains hundreds of shoppable recipes, meal plans, and resources designed to help people simplify healthy eating while supporting heart health, blood sugar balance, healthy aging, brain health, and overall wellness.
